What is a reasonable budget for a destination wedding?
From planning hundreds of weddings over the years, we’ve seen weddings done for free (seriously!) and way into six figures. We’ve found that for a guest list of ~100 guests, a budget of around $15,000 can lead to a spectacular event.
Of course, the more intimate your destination wedding with a smaller guest list, the less money you’ll likely spend. For example, with under 20 guests, your budget could come under $10,000.
Because we find $15,000 to $20,000 to be the “sweet spot” for a destination wedding, we’re exploring all-inclusive packages for under $15,000 here.
The question if a destination wedding is more affordable, is one we get all the time from couples, and it’s a tough one to answer.
The cost of your destination wedding depends on what decor, food, venues, and how many guests you’ll have. Most resorts we work with offer wedding packages that include many of the main elements you’ll want (food, drinks, venues, flowers, ceremony, etc.), which helps bring your overall cost down.
So most of our couples find a destination wedding more affordable than a wedding in their hometown when you add everything up.

One downside to Secrets Moxché is it’s about an hour’s drive from Cancun airport. While not a deal breaker for most, it’s worth mentioning as there are similar resorts closer to the airport, which can be a factor if you know your guests will be traveling a great distance for the wedding.
